This is flower is known as the pride of Sussex. The flower is deep blue, almost purple. Each flower head is actually made up of a cluster of smaller flowers.

Hi,
Lovely pic of the Pride of Sussex. I too love the countryside & have a blog dedicated to the South Downs at: My.opera.com/blackpatch/blog & if you see this tonight, maybe you can sign our (South Downs Campaign) petition to create a National Park - end date 9th July, so hurry.
